This is the year. We will redo our kitchen. We moved into our home 5 years ago and I was so naive to think we would remodel our kitchen once we move in. I talked to several contractors, visited Ikea kitchen showroom, and hired an interior designer to draw us the design and elevations.
Being a first time home owner, I had a vision board and paint swatches to make our home to match my vision and styles. Of course, within a week or so, our hot water heater started causing issues and we had to replace it. That was just the beginning of the homeowners’ never ending repair lists.
My New Kitchen Mock Up Design
Fast forward to 2021, we have been quarantining for 9-10 months since the global pandemic. Five of us were all home working learning from home and and ate 3 meals a day and 7 days a week. We realized that the kitchen is the center of our home and the heart of our family’s life style. Boys started baking and cooking simple dishes since last summer. Our kitchen has had the most traffic in the entire house.
I have been collecting/curating inspo images past 5 years and was able to finally share the mood board with my designer. Even though I felt defeated and thwarted when I found out we ran out of funds to redo our kitchen 2015, I am actually really glad that we were ‘holding it off’ until now. My taste has changes, the trend has changed and I know exactly what we need because we have been living and using this kitchen long enough.
After spending good 12 hours with my beloved photoshop, I was able to stitch my favorite elements from the mood board and create my own mock up kitchen design.
